This is an excerpt from one of my favorite magic books, “The Keys of Conjure” by Chas Boswan. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. It isn’t very long-lasting but it is effective for its purpose. I would love to hear the thoughts of those of you who give it a shot! The Water Rite is a particular method of internal spiritual cleansing that comes from the Feri Tradition. Though it is considered a tradition of witchcraft, its founders Victor and Cora Anderson were trained in rootwork and mystical Christianity. This particular rite also referred to by some as the Kala rite, is a simple and powerful way to cleanse yourself from within through the consumption of blessed water. For this practice, you will need a glass of water, no more than you can drink in a sitting. Begin by concentrating on whatever negativity surrounds you, from mundane annoyances to the larger life issues that cause you stress and the negativity that accompanies it. Having full awareness of this negativity, hold the glass of water near your lips. Take three deep breaths, and with each exhale imagine this negativity passing from inside you and into the glass. Picture it like tar or soot, black and thick and nasty. The glass may even feel heavier as you fill it with the negativity. Now feel yourself connecting to the divine source above you, which many picture as the white dove of the Holy Spirit. Sense this powerful spirit enter you from above. Breathe it in. With your next exhale feel this divine energy pass from your lips into the water in the cup. Sense it transform from the toxic sludge you relieved yourself of into crystal-clear water. Much as a bee, scorpion, and snake venom have been ailments, the alchemy involved in this trick transforms something negative into something beneficial. Drink this water, and feel yourself filled with cleansing, life-giving water. This is a great way to rid yourself of various anxieties. It is said that the effects will last as long as it takes you to urinate next, at which point you are free to perform the rite again.
